I joined the BBC film department based at Ealing Film Studios as a trainee Assistant Sound Recordist in 1978. I initially spent several years boomswinging on dramas such as Bergerac, Lovejoy and Truly Madly Deeply, and when not working on dramas I assisted on music programmes and documentaries, and this experience eventually led to me to being promoted to Recordist in 1994.

Since leaving the BBC in 1996 and becoming a freelance Recordist, I continued working in most areas of TV programming & Feature Films, picking up a BAFTA nomination for Paddington Green along the way.

Travel is a big perk of the job and at the last count I've been lucky to have worked in 45 countries including Russia, China, The Arctic, several African countries, and 19 North American states.
